Supporting the NGO Acting for Life in defining a new five-year strategic ambition
Did You Know?
At ScaleChanger, we regularly facilitate team seminars where members of the same organisation come together to reflect, collaborate, and collectively decide on the actions needed to achieve their strategic goals. Recently, we had the opportunity to do just that for the NGO Acting for Life, which sought external expertise and perspective to support the development of its future strategic plan.
Last October, ScaleChanger supported Acting for Life in shaping its upcoming strategic plan. The collective seminar, carefully prepared and facilitated by ScaleChanger, enabled the NGO to review its previous strategic plan, explore its current and future strategic challenges, and formulate clear priorities and intentions. This was especially crucial in a rapidly evolving international solidarity sector.
With activities such as a retrospective workshop, foresight sessions, and participatory teamwork, the seminar equipped Acting for Life’s teams with renewed confidence in their ability to tackle upcoming challenges.
Changing the Philanthropy Funding Model Is a Necessity: Hilary Pennington, Ford Foundation
The topic of philanthropy is becoming increasingly prominent in our communications. Why? Because foundations are key support players, enabling organisations with positive impact to develop, sustain, and scale the impact of their solutions.
Can foundations evolve their support models to better meet the needs of communities and territories? The answer is yes, as illustrated by the Ford Foundation in a compelling article we are sharing with you today.
The article highlights the importance of building a more inclusive and collaborative approach to philanthropy, supporting local initiatives that involve communities (Indigenous peoples, Afro-descendants, and populations from the Global South) directly impacted by global challenges (climate change, biodiversity, etc.) in decision-making processes. It also emphasises the need to promote unrestricted funding practices, that is, funds not earmarked for a specific project, offering local actors greater autonomy and efficiency in their actions.
